What are the responsibilities and job description for the Districtwide Substitute Teacher (PreK-8) SY 25/26 position at Public Schools of Brookline (Districtwide)?
The Public Schools of Brookline (PSB) serve over 7,000 students from Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12. Our district includes eight K–8 elementary schools, one Early Education program (BEEP), and one high school, all located in the Town of Brookline.

Responsibilities:
- Study and follow the curriculum and lesson plan as provided by the absent teacher or the principal
- Apply various teaching techniques (including interactive methods and game-based activities) to encourage participation and facilitate learning
- Prepare educational materials, such as notes, exercises and additional resources
- Assign classwork and homework
- Take attendance according to school policy
- Keep track of students’ progress and write down information that’ll be useful to the regular teacher
- Report any incidents regarding students’ behavior in and out of the classroom
- Maintain a tidy and safe class environment for students
- Oversee school equipment and ensure students use it properly
- Salary $135/day
Terms: SY25/26
All candidates must receive A PSB suitability determination of any criminal history background, including fingerprinting and CORI. Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
