THE OPPORTUNITY
Striking Distance Studios is looking for a Technical Designer to work in a cooperative, cross-disciplinary team environment.
***This role will be onsite at Striking Distance Studios in San Ramon, CA!
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, document, and tune game mechanics, controls, and systems.
- Work with Leads, Systems Designers, Animators and Engineers to create compelling gameplay mechanics.
- Collaborate with team to ensure highest level of quality and to guarantee visibility and alignment
- Fully document design for Engineers, Prop Artists, and Animators. Creatively solve system conflicts and troubleshoot technical limitations
- Balance and tune gameplay to ensure the highest level of player engagement.
- Communicate with Production to ensure all deadlines are met
- Work with Design to create tools/workflow enhancements that can benefit the team as a whole through production.
- Work with all teams to prototype and prove out the viability of content, whether it be tools or gameplay mechanics.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 3 years AAA design.
- A strong understanding of design principles and combat design.
- Professional experience working in UE4/UE5
- Coding experience in Unreal Engine C
- Very Experienced with Scripting languages, and visual scripting languages. (Blueprint knowledge preferred)
- A passion and hunger to make the best games.
