About the Opportunity
PTS Advance is partnering with a well-established engineering consulting firm seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer to join their Anchorage, Alaska office.
This role offers the opportunity to lead the mechanical design of complex industrial infrastructure projects, including bulk fuel systems, water and wastewater utilities, oil & gas facilities, and process systems throughout Alaska.
This is a high-impact position for an engineer who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys technical ownership, and is comfortable leading multidisciplinary project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering design for industrial and infrastructure projects
- Manage and coordinate multi-discipline engineering teams
- Develop complete engineering deliverables including:
- Drawings
- Specifications
- Calculations
- Testing requirements
- Acceptance criteria
- Design mechanical systems for:
- Bulk fuel facilities
- Water and wastewater utilities
- Oil & gas (upstream/midstream)
- Process and industrial systems
- Perform submittal reviews and technical approvals
- Provide construction support, field inspections, and troubleshooting
- Develop project cost estimates, proposals, and schedules
- Interface directly with clients and stakeholders
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff
- Support business development and client growth initiatives
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Professional Engineer (PE) license – State of Alaska required
- 5–14 years of experience, depending on level (Engineer vs Senior Engineer)
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office Suite
- Experience developing mechanical design packages for industrial systems
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently with high accountability
Preferred Experience
- Experience in cold region / Arctic engineering design
- Background in HVAC design (industrial or infrastructure environments)
- API 653 and/or API 570 certifications
- PMP certification or project management experience
- Business development or client-facing experience
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
