Position Summary:
PTS Advance is seeking an experienced MEP Department Manager to lead and oversee multidisciplinary design and engineering operations for projects in the Pittsburgh region. The ideal candidate will be a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a strong background in Revit-based design, piping system layout, and coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines.
This role will be responsible for departmental leadership, project oversight, technical quality assurance, and mentorship of design teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the MEP engineering department, ensuring high-quality project delivery across all disciplines.
- Oversee the design, coordination, and documentation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for commercial, healthcare, industrial, and institutional projects.
- Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) on select projects, providing technical guidance and quality assurance.
- Supervise and mentor design engineers and Revit technicians; provide direction for staff development and training.
- Collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and construction teams to ensure design intent, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
- Utilize Revit MEP to oversee model accuracy, coordination, and clash detection.
- Lead piping design efforts including hydronic, chilled water, steam, and process piping systems.
- Support business development initiatives by contributing to proposals, client presentations, and project scoping.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, energy standards, and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required (PA preferred).
- 10 years of experience in MEP engineering design and project management.
- Proven expertise in piping and HVAC system design for commercial, institutional, or industrial facilities.
- Proficiency with Revit MEP and AutoCAD is required; Navisworks experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems integration, plumbing design, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent communication, client management, and problem-solving abilities.
