What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instrument and Controls Technician position at PTS Advance?
We're looking for an experienced DeltaV Instrument & Control Systems Specialist to help keep our plant automation systems running safely, efficiently, and reliably. In this role, you'll work hands-on with DeltaV systems, optimize control strategies, troubleshoot automation issues, and partner with maintenance and operations teams to improve overall plant performance.
What You'll Do
- Maintain and support DeltaV control system hardware and software.
- Perform system upgrades, firmware updates, patches, and lifecycle management activities.
- Monitor and improve control loop performance using Emerson Insight and other diagnostic tools.
- Configure, maintain, and optimize alarm management systems.
- Support system reliability through user administration, cybersecurity best practices, and network maintenance.
- Develop and improve control strategies, loop documentation, and automation standards.
- Work closely with Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I), maintenance, and operations teams to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Utilize tools such as ValveLink to evaluate valve performance, support outage planning, and improve preventive maintenance efforts.
- Troubleshoot automation, instrumentation, and control system issues to minimize production interruptions.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance system performance, safety, and operational efficiency.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- At least 5 years of experience supporting industrial automation or process control systems.
- Hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV distributed control systems is required.
- Experience working with DCS and/or PLC-based control systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Rockwell ControlLogix is a plus.
- Familiarity with HMI systems, industrial networking, instrumentation, and process safety systems is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
