Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Weld Coordinator to oversee aspects of welding operations within our facility. The Weld Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring welding procedures, qualifications, and processes meet industry standards, customer specifications, and company quality requirements. This role is critical in supporting productivity, safety, and the integrity of our fabricated products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welding Oversight & Coordination:
- Supervise and support daily welding operations on the production floor
- Coordinate with teams in the shop to ensure accurate execution of work orders and proper clocking of labor to GSS (ERP System).
- Monitor welders to ensure adherence to WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications) and company standards of quality.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO 3834) and customer requirements.
- Support quality inspections and perform weld process audits.
- Training & Support:
- Provide guidance and training for welders regarding best practices, techniques, and safety protocols.
- Facilitate welder qualification tests and coordinate with PTMW’s CWI as needed.
- Process Improvement:
- Evaluate and improve welding methods and fixturing to increase efficiency and eliminate rework or scrap.
- Collaborate with management, engineering, and production teams to review prints, estimate times and optimize the weld schedule.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of weld maps, inspection reports, NCRs, and corrective actions.
- Report print and fit up issues to engineering and supporting departments to find solutions to improve assembly.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Associate’s degree or technical certification in welding, weld engineering, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree is a plus. - Experience:
Minimum 5 years of hands-on welding experience in metal fabrication, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or coordination role. - Certifications (Preferred):
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of welding codes, materials, and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with ERP or MRP systems.
