What are the responsibilities and job description for the Color Lab Technician Assistant position at PTF Industrial Coatings Inc?
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Color and Sample Preparation
· Assist in preparing and mixing paints or coatings following established formulations.
· Dilute paints, measure components, and prepare test panels for visual and instrumental evaluation.
· Apply powder and liquid coatings on test panels using standard laboratory or production equipment.
· Support the creation of color samples for customer approval and marketing requests.
Testing and Quality Support
· Perform routine quality control tests on incoming materials, finished products, and samples.
· Record test data accurately and assist with maintaining the color database and finish log.
· Calibrate and clean laboratory equipment under the supervision of the Senior Color Lab Technician.
· Support Quality testing programs such as oven data collection, pretreatment chemical checks, and gloss/color measurements.
Organization and Inventory Management
· Maintain laboratory cleanliness and proper organization of paints, powders, and chemical materials.
· Store all substances safely, following SDS and company safety procedures.
· Track and replenish disposable materials, lab supplies, and test panels as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Very active position requiring standing, walking, balancing, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, hearing, and repetitive motions all day.
- Basic understanding of color concepts, mixing, and surface preparation.
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and especially color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus as well as the visual acuity to closely and accurately inspect and distinguish minor differences in colors, textures, gloss, etc.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
· Active position involving standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
· Requires excellent color vision, visual acuity, and attention to detail.
· Exposure to paint, powder, and solvent materials in a controlled lab and production setting.
· Use of respirators, gloves, goggles, and other PPE as required.
- Frequently required to sit, utilize hands and finger dexterity.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
