Position Summary: The Controller is responsible for leading all financial and accounting activities for PTC Liberty Tubulars, LLC. This role partners closely with plant operations leadership to drive financial performance, cost control, inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making. The Controller works in a shared service model for plant accounting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and financial reporting while ensuring compliance with corporate policies and GAAP.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead monthly financial close process for the manufacturing facility.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, operational reports, and variance analysis.
- Ensure accurate accounting for inventory, production costs, fixed assets, and labor absorption.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
- Support annual external audits and internal audit activities.
- Develop weekly and monthly financial performance reporting for plant leadership.
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Analysis
- Manage standard costing system including:
- Bills of material
- Routings and Recipes
- Production standards
- Overhead absorption rates
- Analyze manufacturing variances including:
- Yield and scrap
- Material usage
- Production efficiency
- Labor productivity
- Freight and conversion costs
- Monitor cost per ton, throughput, and manufacturing KPIs.
- Support pricing analysis and margin improvement initiatives.
- Partner with operations to identify cost reduction opportunities and productivity improvements.
Inventory & Operational Controls
- Oversee physical inventories and cycle count programs.
- Ensure inventory accuracy for:
- Raw materials
- WIP
- Finished goods
- Consignment inventory
- Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory reserves.
- Ensure strong controls over inventory transactions and manufacturing reporting systems.
- Review capital expenditures and track project spending.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual operating budget for the plant.
- Develop production, labor, overhead, and capital expenditure forecasts.
- Analyze actual results versus budget and forecast.
- Provide financial modeling and operational scenario analysis.
Business Partnership
- Serve as key financial advisor to Plant Manager and operations leadership team.
- Translate operational performance into financial impact.
- Support strategic initiatives including capacity expansion, process improvement, and automation projects.
- Participate in daily/weekly production and operations meetings.
Leadership & Team Development
- Work within a shared service model for transactional accounting and supervise plant accounting, which consists of an Accounting Associate.
- Develop and maintain strong financial discipline across plant operations.
- Promote continuous improvement within finance and operations processes.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
Experience
- 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience in manufacturing.
- Prior experience in steel, tubular, pipe, OCTG, or heavy industrial manufacturing strongly preferred.
- Strong cost accounting and inventory accounting background required.
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of:

- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Infor, or similar.

Salary : $125,000 - $150,000
