Job Summary:
The Operator is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and efficiently running chamfer units, blowout/chopper equipment, and the Mair bundler to ensure consistent production of high‑quality tube products. This role requires continuous inspection of tubing—monitoring length, gauge, OD/ID, cut quality, straightness, and end condition—to maintain strict quality standards while minimizing waste and downtime.
The Operator maintains a clean and organized work area, removing scarfing and scrap materials, and ensures all necessary supplies are stocked. They prepare hex bundles according to packaging specifications, apply proper banding tension, secure clips, and tag and segregate bundles by heat. The position also includes performing operator TPM checks, submitting work orders for needed repairs, and safely operating an overhead crane to move bundles to designated holding areas.
Accurate completion of all required paperwork and timely data entry into the ERP system are essential. The Operator is accountable for personal and team safety and supports overall plant operations by assisting with general cleaning when not assigned other tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Correctly sets up, adjust and operates chamfer units, blowout/chopper, and Mair bundler to produce a quality product with accepted quantities with a minimum amount of waste and downtime.
- Constantly inspects and monitors the tube, including measurements of length, gauge, OD, ID cut, straightness, and end condition.
- Keeps work area clean and removes scarfing and scrap tube from the bucks and hoppers
- Ensures supplies are stocked and ready when needed.
- Hex bundle tube according to order packaging requirements, ensuring banding is properly tensioned, and clips are secured.
- Identify bundles with a tag and segregate by heat.
- Conduct operator TPM checks and writes work orders for items requiring repair.
- Must be able to operate the overhead crane and move bundles to the holding area
- Fill out all applicable paperwork for the operation, including entering data into the ERP computer system.
- Responsible for the safety of self and crew members
- Cleans all areas of the plant when not directed by the supervisor to do anything else.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as directed

Qualifications:Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Completion of electrician course, associate degree, or equivalent experience is required. At least 3-5 years of hands-on commercial or industrial electrical experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to reason through problems involving adjustments to equipment.
- Must have an average background in math and computers.
- Expected to be able to lift, push or pull a maximum 50 pounds. Required to walk, stand, or climb for the entire shift. Must be able to bend, squat and have full range of all limbs without restrictions.
- Must have a HS diploma or GED
