Job Summary:
This position oversees the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in factories, warehouses, production areas and other businesses. The electrician will test existing equipment and determine if components of a system need to be upgraded or replaced. They will check switches, motors, regulators, and other parts of an industrial electrical system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedule, oversee, and conduct inspections, repairs, installations, and wiring of all electrical apparatus, devices, and circuits of any voltage within the plant or assigned area.
- Must be able to read wiring diagrams, specifications, and instructions related to scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work.
- Analyze various types of drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and install circuits and equipment, determine material or replacement needs, and develop effective troubleshooting and repair strategies.
- Determine necessary tools and materials; plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical principles, wiring specifications, codes, properties of various materials, and the operation and application principles of equipment.
- Locate sources of failure in any electrical equipment by tracing and testing circuits and inspect for faulty operations.
- Dismantle, inspect, repair, and adjust or replace faulty parts and wiring of motors, generators, power distribution and control panels, circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic devices, transformers, cranes, etc.
- Reassemble, test, and adjust equipment for safe and proper operation.
- Replace components such as coils, resistors, rheostats, and relays.
- Adjust contactors, relays, bus rigging, etc., and reconnect terminal leads, panel boards, and distribution feeders.
- Bypass defective coils to return equipment to operation.
- Change DC motor characteristics by bypassing series coils as needed.
- Install conduit, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures; wire and connect all types of electrical equipment required for new installations or facility replacements.
- Make all required splices and connector joints.
- Clean all areas of the plant when not directed by a supervisor to perform other tasks.
- Adjust all new equipment for proper operating characteristics.
- Must be familiar with PLC operating systems.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Completion of electrician course, associate degree, or equivalent experience is required. At least 3-5 years of hands-on commercial or industrial electrical experience.

- Must be familiar with PLC operating systems
- Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
- Computer skills for CMS and work order system.
- Multi-meter usage and ability to work on 24 VDC, 120 VAC, 240 VAC, and 480 VAC systems.
- Lockout/tagout, arc flash, fall protection, PPE, confined space training.
- Experience with automation and controls is a plus.
