Job Summary:

The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing quality assurance processes within the injection molding production environment. This role ensures that all products meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards. The Quality Manager leads a team of quality inspectors, technicians and engineers, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.

Pay: $110,000 to $135,000

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Quality Management System Oversight:

  • Ensure the effectiveness and compliance of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Identify and implement areas for improvement within the QMS to support division and corporate objectives.

Personnel Management:

  • Supervise and manage Quality Assurance (QA) personnel to maintain operational efficiency and alignment with quality standards.

Process Validation Coordination:

  • Oversee process validation activities in quality inspection lab.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure process validations are completed on time from an inspection perspective.

Metrology Coordination:

  • Oversee calibration and metrology requirements to ensure measurement accuracy and reliability in quality processes.

Audit Coordination:

  • Evaluate and support with established procedures and standards.
  • Facilitate external audits, including coordination with auditors and resolution of identified non-conformances.

Customer and Supplier Support:

  • Address and resolve quality-related issues raised by customers and suppliers, ensuring timely and effective corrective actions.

Management Communication:

  • Report to management on the performance and effectiveness of the QMS.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for ensuring that processes needed for the quality management system are established, implemented and maintained for the division.
  • Report to top management on concerns affecting the QMS.
  • Assure that parts produced meet customer specifications, and requirements via inspection (incoming, in-process & final) and effective process control and monitoring.
  • Focus on improvement activities to minimize defects and customer complaints.
  • To represent our customers regarding quality of the products produced.
  • Monitor and lead resolution on customer quality issues.
  • Coordinate metrology requirements needed to qualify/validate new tooling and modification of existing tooling to meet customer expectations.
  • Ensure effective MSA and appropriate measurement techniques are in place for quality inspection.
  • Responsible for assuring compliance to the company’s quality system via coordination of process/system improvement activities for both division and corporate level.
  • Responsible for facilitating resolution and communicating effective correcting actions for all customer complaints. Improve tracking of customer complaints so that they are a measure of PTA’s quality, get adequate attention and timely closure resulting in customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate implementation of best practices between facilities.
  • Responsible for planning, preparation and presentation of the periodic management review and subsequent reporting and follow-up on identified issues.
  • Reporting, posting and communicating PTA’s performance metrics to the work force.
  • Work with applicable teams to improve metrics as needed to meet goals.
  • Promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the company.
  • Stay abreast of new and future quality programs, techniques, equipment, and training.
  • Ensure compliance of company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Corporate Quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience with leading and managing a team.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience working in quality assurance.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience with recognized quality systems (ISO, AS, QS).
  • A minimum of two years’ experience with medical quality systems such as ISO 13485.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience with manufacturing environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of employees, suppliers, and customers.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective & Preventive Action
  • Ability to analyze data, assess processes, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the production floor for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling small tools, machine components, and molds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection.
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching to access equipment if needed.
  • Good vision and color perception for inspecting parts and identifying any defects or abnormalities.
  • Ability to work in temperature-controlled environments and withstand exposure to noise levels associated with manufacturing machinery.
  • Ability to receive, comprehend and utilize required training from OSHA and Company including but not limited to the following:
  • Hazard Communication
  • Lock Out/Tag Out
  • First Aid and CPR (optional)
