What are the responsibilities and job description for the Backup Female Caregiver position at PT Caregivers, paid through Consumer Directions?
Job Summary
Looking for a caring, trustworthy Backup Female Caregivers for myself. I am 47 years old and love nature, animals, and art. I have autoimmune and neurological challenges.
Qualifications
Certification not required. Experience with chronic fatigue, immune, and sensory challenges preferred. I do best with caregivers who are naturally calm, quiet, responsible, independent workers, multitaskers, can follow instructions, have a good memory and strong communication skills, are truly able to handle minimal interaction due to debilitating fatigue and sensory challenges, and have a good sense of humor. Non-smoker due to extreme allergies and migraines (including the smell of cigarettes, marijuana, and e-cigarettes) (this includes not using these things in your vehicle or home as the smell will be on your clothing and my groceries). Must pass a background check and have a reliable, scent-free vehicle that can fit a folded manual wheelchair in the trunk for bringing me to appointments.
I prefer a carer who can start in Aug or Sept and commit to about one year or longer.
Responsibilities
Provide compassionate care and assist with a clean home. Primarily do detailed cleaning, wash dishes, cook, organize, wash my hair, run errands, and at times bring me to appointments. You will also help with projects like putting papers in binders, etc. Some lifting required for bringing packages upstairs and organizing totes and boxes. I stay on the 2nd floor so you will be walking steps 5-8 times each shift. I have a stairlift which can be used for some heavy things.
Training is provided, as well as a typed routine and caregiver binder to refer to each shift.
Hours:
You would work one Wednesday 10-5pm and one Thursday 12-5pm, per month.
(12 hours per month. Plus backup when my other caregiver is unavailable.)
Caregivers come about 3 weeks a month, having one week off unless I suddenly need extra help. I can be somewhat flexible with times. Backup is most often on Wed or Thur, but also other week days and weekends if I suddenly need extra help during a big crash or when I start a new treatment.
(Possibility of a few more hours a month.)
(Please note: I need carers who would be fitting me into a current schedule, not looking for another job and then having to quit.)
Pay and benefits: $20-$22 per hour, depending on experience.
Mileage is paid. PTO. Some holidays paid time and a half. Off Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
I have a waiver through the county with self-directed care. You would be paid through Consumer Directions, a fiscal entity. All tax laws are followed.
A bit about myself:
My husband, myself, and my mom have a quiet, scent-free, and chemical-free home. We have a dog and a cat, which you would not be responsible for taking care of as a caregiver. I used to be a teacher, tutor, and PCA until I became chronically ill 25 years ago. I enjoy people but am not able to socialize as much as I'd like. I am trying to increase my independence with ADL's and learn to draw, paint, and sew.
Our goal is to be a blessing to you as you sure will be to us!
