General Internist – Outpatient & Infectious Disease Services in Gallup, NM 87301
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate General Internist with expertise in Outpatient Services and Infectious Disease (ID) management to join our healthcare team. The physician will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to adult patients, including preventive medicine, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions, and specialized infectious disease consultations. This role emphasizes high-quality outpatient care, continuity of care, and collaborative practice with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities

Outpatient Internal Medicine

Provide primary care and ongoing management for adult patients in an outpatient clinic setting.

Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations, preventive screenings, and health risk assessments.

Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, ensuring continuity of care.

Develop individualized treatment and management plans in collaboration with patients.

Infectious Disease Services
-
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with infectious diseases, including HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis, and emerging infections.

Provide antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention guidance.

Collaborate with hospitalists, primary care providers, and specialists for consultative infectious disease care.

Educate patients on disease prevention, vaccinations, and risk reduction strategies.

Work closely with nursing, pharmacy, and allied health professionals to deliver integrated care.

Qualifications

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.

Completion of an Internal Medicine residency program.

Fellowship training in Infectious Diseases (preferred, not always required depending on role).

Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine (and Infectious Disease if fellowship-trained).
