What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electronic-Mechanical Assembler II position at Psychology Software Tools, Inc?
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Electronic-Mechanical Assembler II to join our dynamic manufacturing team. Responsible for the assembly, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of complete electro-mechanical systems, including PST’s Encore and Vera MRI simulators. Works from engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and technical instructions to independently complete complex product builds with limited direction. Performs mechanical, electronic, and optical assembly; wiring harness fabrication; component fabrication and modification; functional testing; and product inspection to ensure finished systems meet engineering specifications and quality requirements. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting, repair and refurbishment of returned equipment, and assisting with inventory and bill of materials control. May assist experienced team members with onsite equipment installation and integration at customer facilities as business needs arise. Initial responsibilities will focus on in-house assembly and testing, with potential customer-site travel as projects require.
Primary Duties:
· Build complete Encore and Vera MRI simulators, integrating mechanical, electronic, optical, and other system components according to engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and established work instructions.
· Plan and perform assembly activities with limited direction, identifying required components, following assembly sequences, and resolving routine build issues.
· Fabricate and assemble wiring harnesses, cables, connectors, and electrical connections.
· Perform final system integration, ensuring mechanical assemblies, electronic components, wiring, and accessories are properly installed and connected.
· Conduct bench testing and functional verification of completed simulators, subassemblies, and components; troubleshoot issues and coordinate resolution with engineering or production personnel as needed.
· Perform PCB assembly, soldering, component population, and testing as required.
· Fabricate, modify, and finish mechanical components using hand tools, power tools, and appropriate machine shop equipment.
· Polish fiber-optic cables and prepare optical components for system integration.
· Perform post-processing of 3D-printed parts and other finishing operations, including filing, sanding, gluing, caulking, and painting as needed.
· Inspect incoming components and vendor- or subcontractor-supplied products against engineering drawings, specifications, and established quality requirements.
· Troubleshoot, repair, and refurbish returned equipment and components.
· Prepare completed systems for shipment, ensuring products, accessories, and components are properly packaged and protected for delivery.
· Maintain accurate assembly and testing records and follow applicable work instructions, quality procedures, and safety requirements.
Secondary Duties:
· Assist with onsite installation, integration, and setup of simulators at customer facilities when needed. Travel may be required in the future based on project and customer needs.
· Assist with inventory and bill of materials control, including identifying, ordering, receiving, stocking, and tagging component parts.
· Assist in developing and maintaining assembly instructions, testing procedures, technical documentation, and drawings.
· Collaborate with engineering, production, and other team members to resolve build issues and meet project schedules.
Requirements:
· 3 to 5 years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly, electronics manufacturing, equipment integration, or a related technical field preferred.
· High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in electronics, mechanical assembly, or a related discipline preferred.
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, bills of materials, and technical assembly instructions.
· Demonstrated ability to assemble complex electro-mechanical equipment and complete multi-step builds with limited supervision.
· Experience with wiring harness assembly, soldering, electronic components, and mechanical integration.
· Familiarity with testing equipment, including multimeters and power supplies, and the ability to perform functional testing and basic troubleshooting.
· Experience with machine shop equipment, such as milling machines, lathes, drill presses, and band saws, preferred.
· Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
· Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, manual dexterity, and commitment to product quality.
· Ability to manage assigned work, communicate progress and issues, and collaborate effectively with engineering and production personnel.
· Physical ability to perform hands-on assembly of large equipment, including frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, standing, and reaching overhead while using hand and power tools.
· Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites for equipment installation and integration as business needs arise.
