Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Prepare patients for psychiatric evaluations, including obtaining vital signs, medical history, and current medication information.
- Assist providers during assessments, procedures, and telepsychiatry visits.
- Monitor patient status and promptly report changes or concerns to the clinical team.
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, follow-ups, and referrals.
- Complete patient screenings to determine appropriateness of services.
- Manage patient documentation, including chart updates, consents, medication logs, and test results in the EHR system.
- Facilitate communication between patients and providers, including phone triage and secure messaging.
- Complete/support prior authorizations, insurance verification, and prescription refills under provider guidance.
- Complete requests for medical records.
- Provide empathetic guidance and education regarding treatment plans and clinic procedures.
- Assist with crisis situations by following clinic protocols and notifying appropriate staff.
- Maintain a calm, supportive environment for patients experiencing acute stress, anxiety, or behavioral health symptoms.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivilent
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent).
- Basic life support (BLS) certification.
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in sensitive situations.
- Experience in mental health, behavioral health, or psychiatric settings.
- Possess state criminal, child abuse, and FBI clearances without a prohibition to work with children and elderly patients
- Have taken the mandated reporter training (CPSL/Child Protective Services Law) within the past 5 years
