Position Title

On-Site Foreman

Position Summary

The On-Site Foreman is a hands-on field leader responsible for directing laborers, completing assigned field tasks, maintaining jobsite organization, supporting subcontractor coordination, assisting with logistics, and helping the Superintendent execute daily work plans. The Foreman is expected to be actively involved in the field and capable of leading small crews, solving minor field issues, coordinating materials, maintaining cleanliness, supporting inspections, and keeping the site moving efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Crew Supervision

·   Supervise and direct laborers assigned to daily tasks.

·   Assign work activities based on the Superintendent’s priorities.

·   Monitor productivity, quality, safety, and completion of assigned tasks.

·   Confirm laborers have the tools, materials, PPE, and instructions needed to complete their work.

·   Report manpower, productivity, or performance issues to the Superintendent.

Field Support

·   Assist with site logistics, material staging, deliveries, cleanup, temporary protection, signage, access control, and general jobsite organization.

·   Support subcontractors with access, layout assistance, unloading, staging, protection, and minor coordination needs.

·   Assist with temporary facilities, temporary fencing, erosion control, barricades, safety rails, floor protection, weather protection, and jobsite signage.

·   Coordinate small field tasks that do not require a subcontractor or that support overall project progress.

Safety

·   Enforce PPE use and basic site safety expectations with laborers and assigned crews.

·   Identify and report unsafe conditions immediately.

·   Assist with housekeeping, debris removal, trip hazard elimination, barricades, and site access control.

·   Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.

·   Stop unsafe work within assigned responsibilities and notify the Superintendent.

Quality & Production

·   Verify assigned tasks are completed correctly and completely.

·   Assist with punch list work, protection of completed work, cleanup before inspections, and preparation for owner/design-team walks.

·   Help identify damaged work, incomplete work, missing materials, and coordination issues.

·   Maintain a high standard of jobsite appearance and readiness.

Documentation & Communication

·   Report daily progress, issues, material needs, labor needs, and safety concerns to the Superintendent.

·   Assist with photo documentation when requested.

·   Communicate clearly with laborers and subcontractor field personnel.

·   Track assigned tasks through completion.

Required Qualifications

·   Experience in commercial construction field operations.

·   Ability to supervise laborers and complete hands-on construction support tasks.

·   Basic understanding of jobsite safety, logistics, cleanup, material handling, and construction sequencing.

·   Ability to read basic plans, follow instructions, and coordinate with field leadership.

·   Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

·   Experience on school, institutional, or commercial projects.

·   OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

·   Equipment operation experience such as forklift, skid steer, lull, or small equipment, where properly certified.

·   Experience with punch list, temporary protection, jobsite logistics, and subcontractor support.

Key Performance Indicators

·   Laborers remain productive and properly directed.

·   Jobsite stays clean, safe, and organized.

·   Assigned tasks are completed correctly and on time.

·   Materials, deliveries, and work areas are prepared before crews need them.

·   Superintendent receives timely updates on field needs and issues.

Physical / Site Requirements

·   Perform physical work that may include lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, climbing, standing, walking, and material handling for extended periods.

·   Work on an active construction site with exposure to weather, noise, dust, equipment, vehicles, and changing site conditions.

·   Comply with all project safety requirements, PPE requirements, access rules, and supervisor instructions.

·   Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality consistent with project needs and site operating hours.
