The role

As the site HSE authority, you will report to the North America Regional HSE Manager and work daily with the Facility Leader. Operating in a matrixed environment, you’ll coordinate with Corporate QHSE, facility leadership, cross‑functional colleagues, and regulatory agencies to reduce risk and elevate performance.

How you’ll lead

• Coach and develop: Provide daily leadership to one full‑time HSE professional (non‑desk) while fostering accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
• Design the system: Create, implement, train, and sustain site HSE policies, programs, and procedures that meet corporate standards and OSHA, EPA, DOT requirements.
• Own compliance: Manage environmental permits, reporting, and regulator interactions.
• Prevent injuries: Drive engagement and behavior‑based safety initiatives, including Consequence Thinking – Zero & Beyond, and provide hands‑on support for procedure rollout and regulatory interpretation.
• Strengthen reliability: Lead incident reporting and investigations; ensure rigorous root cause analysis, corrective actions, and best‑practice sharing.
• Assure performance: Conduct/support internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and operational reviews.
• Integrate with operations: Partner with the Quality Manager to maintain ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018; support Kaizen/Gemba and CI; represent the region in cross‑site forums.
• Advance strategy: Contribute to corporate initiatives and strategic HSE projects identified by the Director of HSE or Facility Leader.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental, Engineering, or related field (equivalent HSE experience considered in lieu of a degree).
• 3 years of hands‑on HSE experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Expertise in OSHA compliance, behavior‑based safety, incident management, auditing, and training.
• Environmental compliance background (permits, waste management, reporting).
• Working knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 preferred.
• Familiarity with workers’ compensation programs.
• Ability to travel periodically for audits, cross‑site initiatives, or training.
