Solar Service Technician

Overview:

The Field Service Technician is responsible for the completion of all service and warranty related work. This person also performs advanced troubleshooting and complex service diagnosis. They will be working closely with the Service Manager, and have the ability to work both independently and as a member of the Service team.

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring timely communication and completion of service and warranty with customer satisfaction
• Troubleshoot and resolve solar electric warranty and service issues that arise with: modules, inverters, monitoring and balance of system components
• Investigate and mitigate any reported roof leaks including thorough documentation, photos and written observations
• Communicate with the Construction Supervisor, and Engineering Team members to resolve any redline issues
• Assist with training and development for Field Service Technicians if necessary
• Regularly exceed defined goals for field service key performance indicators including but not limited to turnaround time, experience rating and average dispatches completed
• Assist with tasks including inspections and site audits when assigned

Qualifications:

• Valid drivers license is required
• Excellent customer service
• Valid state or local Electrical Journeyman certification or license preferred
• Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards
• 3 years of previous field construction experience required with at least 1 year of experience as a service technician in the solar industry
• Must be a motivated team player, looking to succeed
• PV design or PV electrical experience is preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Organizational and time management skills
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to drive to multiple sites throughout the day.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with regards to safety
• Ability to interact with coworkers and participate in meetings

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks
• Work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces which requires frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance
• Climb ladders
• Work in outdoor weather conditions
• Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage
• Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics
