Substitute Custodian

Provincetown IB Schools is now accepting application for a Substitute Custodian Responsibilities of School Custodian: Reports to: Coordinator of Buildings & Grounds Daily cleaning and trash removal of classrooms, offices, corridors, stairwells, kitchen facilities, equipment rooms, gymnasiums, auditoriums, dining facilities, special use rooms, entrances, and teacher's rooms and any other school area assigned. Daily cleaning and disinfecting of school bathrooms including replacement of soap and paper products. Periodic scheduled cleaning of boiler rooms, storage areas, kitchen facilities, service equipment areas, custodial closets and storage areas, and other areas as assigned. Periodic scheduled cleaning of lighting fixtures, walls, windows, furnishings, appliances, chalkboards, bulletin boards and other areas as needed. Periodic scheduled heavy cleaning and maintenance procedures for all types of flooring. Periodic repair of furniture and fixtures as needed. Periodic facility improvements such as painting, glazing, etc. Moving, arranging, setting up furniture, equipment, supplies and/or services to be in place for events. Provides snow removal, and sanding of walkways, driveways, and play areas as required. Provides administrative services such as mail pick-up/delivery, receiving/shipping school supplies and or equipment, transporting special equipment, proper storage and display of flags, setting up and removing furniture or equipment for special events, clean up and sanitation of areas involving sick students, and assisting administration with student and visitor traffic control. Skilled custodians will do minor repairs and maintenance duties including minor repairs to playground equipment, outside furniture, cleaning of walks and keeping play areas neat and clean at all times but will not be required to perform tasks which require licensure. Provides scheduled preventive maintenance procedures and or minor repairs to systems and/or components within assigned areas which may include: Lighting: changing bulbs Plumbing: clearing drains, tightening leaking joints, changing washers, etc. Sewerage: clearing clogged toilets, periodic treatment of floor drains, radiators, etc. Heating: ventilating compressors, pumps, air . exchange units, radiators, etc. (if applicable when the Coordinator of Buildings and Grounds position is not filled). Checks buildings and grounds for fire/ safety hazards, as well as wind, water, and other damage. Accepts and assists in delivery, assembly, and installation of supplies, materials and equipment. Assumes the responsibility for the opening and closing of the building as determined by shift being covered. Secures all doors and windows, and turns off lights as appropriate. Remains on school premises during school hours and non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and attendance is required by the District Principal. Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are free of obstructions and all panic bars are working properly during hours of occupancy. Confronts unauthorized persons, notifies police, fire department, school administration, and other appropriate authority. Responds to alarm calls, emergency calls, in accordance with emergency plans. Other tasks as assigned by Coordinator for Buildings & Grounds or District Principal.
