Responsibilities

• Review and process ambulance service claims using billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Apply appropriate coding such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to classify diagnoses and procedures accurately.
• Verify insurance coverage, health insurance details, and patient information to facilitate smooth claims submission and follow-up.
• Manage medical collections by following up on unpaid or denied claims, resolving discrepancies, and appealing rejected claims when necessary.
• Maintain detailed medical records, medical terminology documentation, and billing records to support claims processing and audits.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding issues that may impact billing accuracy.
• Stay current with healthcare claims management regulations, updates in medical coding standards, and insurance policies to ensure compliance.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing, preferably within a healthcare or ambulance service setting.
• 5-8 years of experience in the full revenue cycle
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare claims processes.
• Familiarity with CPT coding, DRG classifications, ICD-9/ICD-10 codes, and ICD coding standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications along with experience using billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and other healthcare IT tools.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients.
• Understanding of health insurance policies, medical collection procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining accuracy under deadlines.
• NAAC Certifications required
