We are seeking professional, customer-focused individuals to join our team as Unarmed Security Specialists for the 2026 Minnesota State Fair, one of the largest events in the Midwest. Successful candidates demonstrate sound judgment, integrity, exceptional customer service, and the ability to maintain the highest standards of professionalism in a fast-paced event environment.
This is a temporary event assignment with the opportunity to transition into one of our year-round security contracts upon successful completion of the Fair. Work for one of Minnesota's premier security agencies, serving alongside experienced Security Specialists, retired law enforcement leaders, military veterans, and first responders.

Applicants must be available to work at least 3 days of the Minnesota State Fair.
***Multiple Shifts Will Be Available to Accommodate Scheduling***
Required paid training will be scheduled prior to the event. Parking will be provided at no cost during shifts.
Essential Job Duties / Responsibilities:
As an Event Security Specialist, you will represent Providence Security Services by providing exceptional customer service while maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests, vendors, and staff at the Minnesota State Fair.
The position is physically demanding and requires extended periods of standing, walking, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout each shift.
The employee will be responsible for:
- Executing all post orders, directives, and procedures with precision and professionalism.
- Conducting unarmed walking patrols of event/building/ facility, depending on the location.
- Identify and report security threats, unsafe conditions or hazards, and/or other emergency situations.
- Perform site-specific security functions, including crowd management, pedestrian traffic flow, perimeter security, and enforcement of event policies and procedures.
- Conduct security entrance screening, including operating walk-through magnetometers, handheld metal detection wands, and performing bag inspections in accordance with site procedures.
- Assist with access control and entry screening while providing courteous, professional customer service to all guests.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and maintain strong situational awareness.
- Documenting incidents with detailed, accurate, and legible reports during shift, including notation of and how issues were resolved.
- Contact appropriate individuals (site supervisors, director, etc.) as directed by site post orders or as needed during shift.
- Maintain adherence to all PSS standards—including appearance, attendance, conduct, uniform compliance, and professionalism.
- Participate in all required orientation, online pre-training, and mandated state online coursework.
Qualifications
- Must have prior security experience!
- Must be available to work a minimum of three (3) shifts during the Minnesota State Fair (August 27 – September 7, 2026), with the opportunity to work up to all 12 days. A variety of shift start and end times will be available.
- Must have no felony convictions!
- Must successfully pass a Minnesota BCA/FBI criminal background investigation in accordance with all applicable laws.
- Must successfully pass a drug test.
- Reliable transportation to consistently get to and from work on time!
- Strong decision-making ability, attention to detail, and independent judgment.
- Possess effective communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner.
- Ability to write effective, concise, and legible reports.
- Working knowledge of security operations and protocols
- Commitment to professionalism, integrity, equity, inclusion, and service excellence.
- Complete MN State Required Training.
- Event Pay Schedule: This is a temporary event assignment with a single event pay period. All hours worked from Aug 27 through Sept 7, 2026, including applicable Labor Day premium pay, will be paid via direct deposit on Wed, Sept 16, 2026.
