Annual Fund Manager
(FT - 35 hr/wk)
We are seeking a creative, strategic, and detail-oriented fundraising professional to serve as Annual Fund Manager within our External Relations team. Reporting to the Director of External Relations, this individual will play a key role in sustaining and growing Providence Public Library’s (PPL) Annual Fund. The ideal candidate will be an organized and collaborative team player with strong communication and design skills, capable of managing multifaceted fundraising campaigns and donor stewardship initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to shape PPL’s annual giving strategy, oversee donor engagement from acquisition to retention, and lead the creative development of fundraising materials and branding. The successful candidate will bring initiative, enthusiasm, and a passion for advancing PPL’s mission through meaningful donor relationships and effective annual giving programs.
Key Purpose/Summary:
The key objectives for this position are to:
- Manage the stability and growth of PPL’s Annual Fund.
- Manage the stewardship of monthly donors, participation-level donors, and mid-level donors.
- Manage all Development marketing materials and branding.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Annual Fund / Annual Fund Marketing Management
- Collaborate with the Development team to raise $525,000 in unrestricted funds for PPL.
- Take a leadership role in creating, executing, and managing PPL’s holiday and spring annual fund campaigns (direct mail, email, and social media).
- Strategize donor acquisition through marketing PPL’s Annual Fund to Library users on a rolling basis, outside of traditional campaign periods.
- Oversee the monthly giving program, CatalogPPL, as well as membership cultivation and retention.
- Create and maintain the visual brand of all fundraising campaigns and their collateral.
- Serve as lead graphic designer for in-house projects, in collaboration with Director of Marketing.
- Help maintain the budget for all Development direct mail and marketing materials.
Stewardship Management
- Create and maintain a comprehensive stewardship plan for participation-level and mid-level donors outside of standard acknowledgements.
- Strategize donor acquisition and retention plans utilizing new methods and best practices.
- Refresh standard donor acknowledgements quarterly.
Volunteer Management
- Manage volunteer committees as needed or as they regrow.
- Facilitate volunteer needs with other departments at PPL.
- Attend all Development and Conservator Committee meetings and help to manage these committees.
Events Assistance
- Assist with the planning and execution of PPL’s annual gala, including sponsor solicitation and recognition.
- Assist with the planning and execution of Conservator Society (major donor) and Lyra Brown Nickerson Society (planned giving) events.
- Assist with the organization of other events (public and invitation only) to help promote PPL, as appropriate.
- Assist with Programs and Exhibition series as it pertains to donor cultivation, and provide a Development perspective as necessary.

- Proven knowledge of development/fundraising best practices and solicitation techniques;
- Proven ability to create, build, maintain, and grow professional relationships;
- Successful track record in meeting fundraising goals;
- Experience in writing appeal letters and proposals;
- Knowledge of grant and financial processes is a plus;
- Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge, and general understanding of iWave and Google Docs, is a plus.
- Flexibility to attend evening and weekend events, as necessary.
- Check email daily and respond to emails in a timely manner.

Education & Experience Required:
- A bachelor’s degree or 6-8 years of experience is required for this position.
- While this position is open to everyone, candidates should preferably be in mid-career and interested in an evolving role with potential for leadership responsibilities.

Job Posting Requirements
This position is: Exempt and is not part of the Union
Hours: 35 hours per week, variable hours based on Monday - Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm. Flexibility is expected for special events, etc. Work from home opportunities to be evaluated after 6 months of employment.
Salary Range: $60,000-$80,000/year. Per our hiring policy at PPL, the starting salary is $60,000, with up to 5% negotiation flexibility. We can also establish a performance-based plan for future increases if needed.
Benefits: The Library offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a group health, dental, and vision plans with an HRA that covers 95% of the health insurance deductible. If you don’t need insurance, you can opt for a monthly stipend instead. The package also includes fully paid life insurance (up to $50,000) and long-term disability coverage, as well as a generous amount of paid time off, starting with 16.5 days (3 weeks) annually. Additionally, the Library provides a retirement plan with both Traditional and Roth options, offering a 5.5% company match and 100% vesting from the moment you're hired.
