Summary:
Providence Presbyterian Preschool is an outreach ministry of Providence Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC. The philosophy of our preschool is that children learn by doing. We create opportunities for many experiences that strengthen the child’s self-esteem and sense of self–worth and help prepare them for a life-long love of learning. We emphasize experience and process rather than product.
Part-time position:
- Our preschool operates 9:00 am – 12:30 pm Monday through Friday. Teachers work from 8:30 am- 1:00 pm. We are looking for the remainder of the 2025-26 school year and possibly the 2026-2027 school year.
- Our preschool is in session September through May; however, teacher workdays prior to the start of school may begin at the end of August
- Twos Teacher work 5 days/week-Monday through Friday. (Some teacher workdays may occur on non-scheduled days but those will be announced months in advance.
Qualifications:
- Preferably a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, some experience working with children in an educational setting
- Three references are required.
- As required by our insurance and by the Presbytery, a criminal background check must be conducted. For this check certain personal information will be required. This information will be treated with the utmost confidence. (Background check is paid for by the preschool.)
- CPR certification provided by the preschool
Responsibilities:
- Work with the age group team of teachers to plan daily activities that are in line with our play-based curriculum
- Implement these plans within the classroom while creating a fun and nurturing environment
- Communicate frequently and effectively with preschool families as well as coworkers/Preschool Director
- Participate in all teacher workdays which will sometimes include professional development training sessions
- Care for the children, Create a safe and loving environment
- Work as a team with the preschool staff to accomplish any other necessary duties
Compensation:
- Salaries are determined on an individual basis by education and experience.
- Part time: Approximately five hours per day, open positions are either 3 or 4 days/week
- Paychecks – Employees are paid once per month. Paychecks are available the last working day of the month. Direct deposit is available.
- Overtime – There are no overtime opportunities.
- Payroll Deductions - Medicare, FICA, state, and federal taxes are automatically deducted from each employee’s paycheck.
- Paid Leave Days – Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter Holiday breaks
- Personal Leave Days – 4 working days per week = 4 personal leave days a year (2 working days/week = 2 personal leave days/year)
