Actuarial Analyst
- Establish and control rates, rating structures, and rating systems, including but not limited to historical experience reviews, competitor product analyses, and impact of changes.
- Assist with drafting proposals to recommend product changes or new product offerings that help achieve company goals for retention, growth, and profitability.
- Support the completion of the filing process, including preparation of actuarial exhibits and responses to regulatory requests.
- Participate in the implementation, testing, and communication of product changes.
- Develop, maintain, and automate actuarial tools and processes that enhance pricing accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide support for evolving data sources and analytics tools that service the business intelligence needs of the company.
- Conduct additional risk and profitability analyses as required or assigned.
- Perform other duties or special projects as required or assigned.
Job Requirements
Educational and Training Requirements
· BS or BA in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience
· Three to ten years experience in property and casualty insurance pricing or actuarial analyses
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Strong mathematical, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
· Advanced proficiency in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data modeling).
· Proficiency in MS SQL Server Management Studio for data extraction and analysis.
· Working knowledge of R and/or Python for statistical modeling, automation, and advanced data analytics.
· Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar) a plus.
· Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., VBA, workflow automation, or scripting).
· Working knowledge of other Microsoft products, including Word, Outlook, and Teams.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Understanding competitive rating data and insurance regulatory requirements a plus.
· Solid knowledge of insurance concepts and actuarial techniques.
· Ability to meet project deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Ability to balance attention to detail with a broader strategic view.
· Demonstrated creativity and resourcefulness in solving problems.
· Personal leadership and accountability.
