Essential Functions
Ensure the safety and comfort of patients during imaging procedures
Minimize radiation exposure for patients and staff using best practices and protective techniques
Perform radiographic exams according to physician orders and established protocols
Schedule and prepare for radiologic procedures, ensuring all required documentation is in place
Produce high-quality images by following technical standards and adjusting techniques as needed
Monitor and maintain imaging supplies and equipment
Stay current with regulatory guidelines and hospital policies
Report any hazards or equipment issues promptly to the supervisor
Keep your skills up to date through ongoing education and professional development
Maintain accurate patient records, including image archiving and proper charge coding
Support team operations by being open to cross-training in other modalities
Take part in the department's on-call rotation, with weekend coverage approximately every eight weeks (response time required: within 30 minutes)
Maintain consistent and reliable attendance at your assigned work location
Competencies
Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
High school diploma and graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology
Working knowledge of anatomy and the principles of physics, electricity, and methods of exposure to obtain good quality images. The technologist must also be proficient in the operation of the radiology equipment
Be able to communicate and work efficiently with other departments
Consistently show caring and respect for patients, their privacy and property
Demonstrate self-control and emotional stability in a variety of demanding situations
Interested in helping people and have a sincere desire to constantly improve knowledge and skills
The radiologic technologist must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and a graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology
