Summary
The logistics planner plans loads to move consolidated freight among the Northern and Southern centers along with 3PL customer. Also, directly responsible for on-time delivery and maximum trailer utilization; all while operating under their rate per mile targets.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor Degree from a four year College or University or four years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain.
Must have excellent computer skills including all MS Office programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for knowing what freight is scheduled to arrive to any of our Northern/Southern Centers or 3PL plants
- Responsible for knowing what freight is in transit centers and/or plants
- Plans the routes between centers and schedules trucks with approved carriers to minimize costs while meeting delivery commitments
- Plans and schedules the appropriate number of trucks to ensure maximum trailer utilization by knowing how many pallet positions the freight will occupy in a trailer
- Familiar with freight specifics of frequent suppliers; type of product, dimensions, snackability, special loading requirements
- Schedules the appropriate pickup carrier for oversized pickups that LTL carriers are unable to pickup
- Follows up with LTL and line haul carriers to ensure timely pickup and delivery and provides prompt communication to affected centers of any late carriers or shipments
- Ensures all computer information is accurate and up to date
- Anticipate problems and react proactively to solve them
- Communicates effectively via the telephone and e-mail with customers, suppliers, center personnel, customer service representatives, carriers, and other internal personnel
- Communicates roadblocks and suggests corrective actions or other opportunities for improvement to the Operations Manager or Director of Transportation
- Identifies and implements continual improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the position, team, and company.
