Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and wellness evaluations.
- Diagnose and manage medical conditions and injuries in companion animals.
- Recommend and interpret laboratory and diagnostic imaging results.
- Develop evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patients.
- Perform routine soft-tissue surgeries, including spay/neuter procedures and mass removals.
- Provide basic dental care and procedures.
- Prescribe medications and oversee anesthesia and pain management.
- Educate clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, preventive care, and follow-up plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to provide high-quality patient care.
- Participate in case discussions and contribute to improving clinical protocols.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- Eligible for veterinary licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Knowledge of small animal general practice, including examinations, diagnostics, medical management, and client communication.
- Ability and willingness to perform routine surgery, dentistry, and general medicine.
- Ability to interpret laboratory and imaging results and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to preventive medicine, patient safety, and quality veterinary care.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy clinical environment and manage multiple cases.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with veterinary technicians and support staff.
- Interest in continuing education or developing special interests such as internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, or behavior is encouraged.
