Substance Use Disorder Counselor
Location: Multiple locations across the Kansas City, Missouri area

Job Summary:-
The SUD Counselor will assess individuals experiencing substance use disorders, develop individualized treatment plans, provide counseling and recovery support, monitor treatment progress, and coordinate referrals to appropriate services.
The ideal candidate will have experience in substance use disorder treatment, strong clinical documentation skills, and the ability to manage an assigned caseload while maintaining compliance with applicable Missouri Division of Behavioral Health regulations, CARF standards, and HIPAA requirements.
Key Responsibilities:-
Conduct assessments of clients seeking substance use disorder treatment and document findings.
Identify client needs, strengths, abilities, preferences, and measurable treatment goals.
Develop initial treatment plans and participate in ongoing treatment planning meetings.
Provide individual counseling, group counseling, group education, and family education or therapy, as appropriate.
Manage an assigned caseload in accordance with applicable state standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record system, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, treatment plan reviews, transition plans, and discharge summaries.
Monitor client participation, treatment progress, and adjustment against established goals.
Respond appropriately to client crises and take necessary action to protect client safety.
Coordinate referrals to community resources and additional services as needed.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to support continuity of care.
Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable professional ethics requirements.
Provide services at multiple locations as required.
Meet established productivity, documentation, and quality assurance standards.
Required Qualifications:-
Current certification or registration as a substance use professional through the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB), such as: Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC), Certified Reciprocal Alcohol Drug Counselor (CRADC), Certified Advanced Alcohol Drug Counselor (CRAADC)
At least one year of full-time equivalent experience in the treatment or rehabilitation of individuals with substance use disorders.
Ability to conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide substance use disorder counseling.
Knowledge of addiction treatment, recovery support, and clinical documentation requirements.
Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and crisis-response skills.
Basic computer proficiency and ability to maintain electronic health records.
