Intellectual Property Associate Attorney

SUMMARY

Our client, a well-established law firm, is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Intellectual Property (IP) Practice Team in Michigan or Florida. This role offers exposure to a broad range of IP matters, including patent and trademark prosecution, IP litigation, and administrative proceedings before the USPTO and various courts. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior attorney to work with a high-performing team while gaining hands-on experience across multiple IP practice areas.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

- Assist with patent prosecution and IP litigation matters

- Support attorneys in handling trademark and other intellectual property matters

- Prepare and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO

- Participate in litigation matters in state and federal courts, as well as administrative and appellate proceedings

- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents

- Manage multiple assignments while maintaining responsiveness and attention to detail

- Contribute to business development efforts and client relationship building

QUALIFICATIONS

- 1-3 years of experience in intellectual property law (law firm or in-house)

- Registered to practice before the USPTO, or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam

- Active bar membership in Michigan / Florida

- Strong academic credentials (GPA 3.0 )

REQUIREMENTS

- Technical background required; Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred

- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills

- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills

- Excellent communication and client service abilities
