This role provides leadership in injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency care, while supervising all athletic training staff. The position also plays a key role in maintaining compliance, promoting sportsmanship, and supporting student-athlete success.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage the athletic training program, policies, and daily operations.
- Lead all aspects of injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, management, and rehabilitation for student-athletes.
- Coordinate athletic training coverage for practices, games, home/away events, and team activities.
- Schedule and coordinate physical examinations and medical referrals for student-athletes.
- Hire, train, and supervise assistant trainers, graduate assistants, interns, and student workers.
- Oversee and evaluate assistant/associate athletic trainers, graduate assistants, interns, and student workers.
- Conduct hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions in accordance with institutional policies.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of full-time athletic training experience.
- National certification and state licensure as an Athletic Trainer.
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification (BLS).
- Proficiency with injury tracking and concussion testing software.
- Strong ability to document rehab plans and clinical notes (SOAP).
- Prior experience in a collegiate athletic environment.
