This position plays a vital part in promoting a world-class safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assisting field teams with logistics, scheduling, quality control, and operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Leadership & Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain the corporate safety and risk management program.
- Lead the creation of safety policies, procedures, objectives, and long-term strategies.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and all federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Ensure all job sites have proper safety equipment, signage, and PPE.
- Anticipate safety issues and create proactive mitigation strategies.
- Conduct safety training, inspections, toolbox talks, and site audits.
- Lead accident/incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and internal safety inquiries.
- Coordinate workers' compensation and return-to-work strategies with HR.
- Use Procore to record inspections, track safety data, and document compliance.
- Present quarterly safety performance updates to leadership.
- Support the General Superintendent in overseeing day-to-day field operations.
- Assist with supervising field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Support the development and maintenance of project schedules and look-ahead plans.
- Help coordinate jobsite logistics including deliveries, equipment, and workforce needs.
- Conduct site walks to ensure quality control and adherence to specifications.
- Mentor field teams, including superintendents and project managers.
- Participate in progress meetings with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Train superintendents on documentation (daily reports, meeting minutes, inspections, etc.).
- Provide temporary coverage for superintendents during PTO or emergencies.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field preferred.
- 10 years of construction experience, with significant safety leadership responsibilities.
- Experience in field operations supervision highly preferred.
- Certifications such as CSP, CHST, OSHA 30 required.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency with Procore and Microsoft Office Suite.
