Summary

Seeking an associate attorney with 8 years of litigation experience to handle complex defense litigation matters across various practice areas. The ideal candidate will have strong legal research, writing, case strategy, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage cases independently and collaborate effectively with a team.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Handle all phases of New York defense litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Draft and respond to discovery demands and objections, and follow up with opposing counsel to ensure timely compliance.
• Draft correspondence to the court regarding discovery conferences and related proceedings.
• Prepare motions to compel and supporting papers as needed.
• Draft and respond to motions for summary judgment.
• Conduct legal research and prepare comprehensive reports and legal analyses.
• Participate in court conferences, depositions, hearings, and trial proceedings as appropriate.
• Manage case strategy and deadlines while ensuring compliance with client and carrier guidelines.
• Maintain accurate time records and billing entries.
  
  

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills And Abilities)

• 8 years of litigation experience, preferably in a law firm setting.
• Experience in defense litigation, ideally involving one or more of the following areas:
• Insurance defense
• Municipal liability
• Trucking
• Product liability
• Professional liability
• Premises liability
• Labor law
• Motor vehicle accidents
• General liability
• Insurance coverage
• Admission to practice in New York is required.
• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a demonstrated work ethic.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and consistently meet deadlines.
• Willingness to handle matters across different regions, including Western New York and downstate New York, is a plus.
• Trial experience is a plus.
