About ProtoToto:
We're Brooklyn's first design and architecture studio for kids ages 6-11. We teach design thinking through hands-on making, material exploration and play. Our new Gowanus/Boerum Hill studio offers after-school programs, weekend workshops, and school-holiday camps.
The Role:
We're seeking an experienced Learning Center Manager to help launch and grow ProtoToto. This is a unique opportunity to shape a brand-new creative education space from the ground up. You'll oversee day-to-day studio operations, manage enrollment and finances, and help build a thriving community of young makers and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily studio operations and ensure smooth program roll out
- Oversee enrollment (via Sawyer) and family communications
- Assist with budgeting, cash flow, and financial tracking
- Coordinate marketing efforts and community outreach
- Schedule and support guest teachers, interns, and volunteers
- Maintain studio space organized with supplies and needed equipment
- Help build relationships with local schools and community partners
- Support special events, birthday parties, and studio rentals
- Help develop and refine program offerings based on community needs
Required Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience managing or owning a learning center, or after-school program, or children's education business
- Proven track record with budgeting, financial management, and cash flow
- Experience marketing and growing education programs
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable working with children, families, and teaching staff
- Proficiency with basic software (email, spreadsheets, scheduling platforms)
- Positive, warm, and professional demeanor
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background or strong interest in art, design, or creative education
- Experience with small business operations or startups
- Familiarity with Brooklyn's family/education community
- Flexible start up mindset
Position Details:
- Part-time: 25-29 hours per week
- Hourly rate: $25-30/hour (based on experience)
- No health benefits provided
- Flexible schedule with some evening/weekend hours required
- Studio location: Gowanus/Boerum Hill, Brooklyn
