Learning Center Manager (Part-Time) ProtoToto Design Lab

About ProtoToto:

We're Brooklyn's first design and architecture studio for kids ages 6-11. We teach design thinking through hands-on making, material exploration and play. Our new Gowanus/Boerum Hill studio offers after-school programs, weekend workshops, and school-holiday camps.

The Role:

We're seeking an experienced Learning Center Manager to help launch and grow ProtoToto. This is a unique opportunity to shape a brand-new creative education space from the ground up. You'll oversee day-to-day studio operations, manage enrollment and finances, and help build a thriving community of young makers and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily studio operations and ensure smooth program roll out
• Oversee enrollment (via Sawyer) and family communications
• Assist with budgeting, cash flow, and financial tracking
• Coordinate marketing efforts and community outreach
• Schedule and support guest teachers, interns, and volunteers
• Maintain studio space organized with supplies and needed equipment
• Help build relationships with local schools and community partners
• Support special events, birthday parties, and studio rentals
• Help develop and refine program offerings based on community needs

Required Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience managing or owning a learning center, or after-school program, or children's education business
• Proven track record with budgeting, financial management, and cash flow
• Experience marketing and growing education programs
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Comfortable working with children, families, and teaching staff
• Proficiency with basic software (email, spreadsheets, scheduling platforms)
• Positive, warm, and professional demeanor

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background or strong interest in art, design, or creative education
• Experience with small business operations or startups
• Familiarity with Brooklyn's family/education community
• Flexible start up mindset

Position Details:

• Part-time: 25-29 hours per week
• Hourly rate: $25-30/hour (based on experience)
• No health benefits provided
• Flexible schedule with some evening/weekend hours required
• Studio location: Gowanus/Boerum Hill, Brooklyn
• Start date: 01/05/26
