Position Summary The Finishing Specialist Level 1 is an individual who excels in a fast paced, Sheetmetal shop, environment focusing on on-time delivery of parts. This person possesses a strong work ethic. They are a versatile individual who thrives while multitasking. This position will support the finishing department including silkscreen, part mark, epilog, plating, outside process, shipping, wet paint/powder coat and hardware. This position requires reaching a minimum of 2 top levels of these departments.Essential Functions Handle parts with care to avoid damage to finishesWear proper PPE for job function being performedMaintain a clean and organized workspaceFunction in a safe and reliable manner to prevent personal injury and/or property damage Ability to process all aspects of silkscreen and part markOperate laser engraver to make plates for part mark and engravingEfficiently ink fill partsUnderstanding of hardware and assemblyWork with supervisors to troubleshoot any difficult installationsFollow procedures to plate parts per print. This includes both chromate and passivateUse pad printing to mark partsWash and emulsion screensUse machinery & Hand tools to install various types of hardwareAssemble parts using fastenersUse scale to count hardwareUtilize computer software to create artwork & shipping labelsUse hand tools to install helicoils, dowel pins and other types of inserts for hardwareEnsure that all tanks for plating are at the correct PH and temperature dailyMask, unmask and deburr painted and powder coated partsApply powder coat/wet paint using a powder/spray gunUtilize oven to bake parts at correct temperature after powder coatingEnsure that paint cures properly per manufacturer instructionsInspect the evaporator dailyTrain new employees as neededComplete daily inspections of any finishing area and tools/equipment when neededKeep inventory of supplies and Inform purchasing department when supplies need to be ordered Wrap, package & label parts for shipment/outside processTechnical Competencies Ability to read blueprintsBasic mathematics and computer skillsUnderstanding of Hazardous waste disposal/storageGood Hand/Eye coordinationEducation & Professional ExperienceHigh School diploma or GED requiredBasic level knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)3 years of finish experience in a manufacturing environment Experience in Prototyping is a plusPhysical Requirements/Work EnvironmentAbility to wear a respirator and PPEAbility to walk and stand for extended periods of timeAbility to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand/power tools, etc. and handle and feel parts of various sizeAbility to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout the shiftAbility to push, pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout the workdayAbility to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focusNoise conditions can be moderate to extreme.
