Join our team as a Manufacturing Area Coordinator!

The Manufacturing Area Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing day-to-day production operations for an assigned production area. This role ensures manufacturing schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, safety and housekeeping requirements are followed, and cross-functional communication supports continuous flow of materials and information. The Coordinator assists supervisors and leads to remove barriers, resolve production issues, and drive process improvements.

Shift: Mon - Thurs 5PM-3AM

What You Will Do

  • Performs all activities in assigned in functional area
  • Actively participate in tier, huddle and department meetings
  • Provides directions and instructions to CNC Operator I and CNC Operator II & III
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement events and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to read production paperwork and follow production instructions and processes
  • Supports CNC milling operations by cleaning, filling, emptying, wiping, mopping
  • Supports all quality and safety standards within the department
  • Maintains clean and organized work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilization
  • Continually seeks to improve work processes, individual and team performance
  • Adheres to all company policies and operational procedures
  • Promotes the concepts of 5S by maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Communicates updates in daily, weekly and other meetings
  • Communicates with Supervisors and Leads to coordinate operations activities within or between other shifts or functional areas
  • Performs additional tasks and duties as assigned

What It Takes

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Extensive and diversified knowledge of assigned functional area; understands the manufacturing processes well and what to do to prevent bottlenecks
  • Recognized as a technical Subject Matter Expert in assigned functional area
  • Ability to help out and be productive where needed – takes initiative to help others and the areas to be successful
  • Ability to work safely
  • Ability to be flexible and move around the functional areas with a positive attitude
  • Attention to detail
  • Adapts well to change
  • Positive and helpful attitude
  • Multitasking skills – ability to keep work flowing efficiently and work on multiple tasks to drive results
  • Strong mentoring skills – coach and develop less experienced CNC Operators
  • Ability to get along well with others
  • Ability to use chemicals in accordance with safety standards
  • Ability to use measuring instruments such as gages and calipers
  • Ability to use a computer and calculator
  • Ability to comprehend and follow printed, online and verbal instructions
  • Able to work safely with cleaning resources, sharp tools/objects, such as but not limited to, hobby knives, utility knives, diagonal-cutting pliers
  • Able to read and write in English and do basic arithmetic
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment
  • Dependable, reliable, ability to be punctual and have good attendance
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate well

$21.30 - $24 an hour

Protolabs offers a competitive total rewards package, and compensation mix vary based on position, such as base wage, as well as other earnings including incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, job function, work experience, specialized skills, training, education, and certifications.

Physical Demands

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and printer; reach with hands, and arms, talk, see and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop or kneel and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking; the majority of this job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. However, there may be job duties that require the employee to spend time in the manufacturing areas exposed to machinery and noise; eye protection occasionally required. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
