Position Overview:

MOLD SET-UP TECHNICIAN - The Mold Set-Up Technician is responsible for performing and coordinating activities of mold set-up and job preparation. This position is also involved in the setting up of auxiliary equipment and supporting the continuous improvement process.

PROCESS TECHNICAN - The Process Technician is responsible for supporting production operations through technical process optimization, problem-solving, and troubleshooting. This position works cross-functionally with the engineering department to ensure developed process specifications are maintained and improved as needed. The Process Technician should recommend and implement improvements to production processes, cycle times, methods and controls.

Essential Job Functions:

MOLD SET-UP TECHNICIAN

  • Reviews press start-up and mold set-up assignments from molding manager.
  • Performs mold changeover including pulling, set-up, verification for plastic molding machines and auxiliary equipment (dryers, grinders, robots, conveyors, etc.) to complete set-up of work cell. This is done by utilizing the mold set-up checklist and specific mold set-up instructions.
  • Assists in starting or shutting down presses and support equipment as required.
  • Cleans inside and around press to remove all evidence of previous job, as well as any equipment not needed for the job planned to run next.
  • Completes activities for correct start-up and checks equipment parameters to ensure they have been properly set and verified.
  • Performs minor maintenance on the molds as needed.
  • Performs activities of other departments, as needed, including but not limited to, material handling (mixing, prep, movement), equipment cleaning and handling and/or inspection operator as cross training permits and production necessitates for the good of the organization.
  • Maintains a clean work environment and workspace.
  • Follows good safety practices and security awareness.
  • Safe operation of forklift.

PROCESS TECHNICIAN

  • Implements, audits, and enforces molding parameters in accordance with documented procedures and processing data.
  • Adjusts parameters or production conditions to resolve quality issues or production issues as they arise.
  • Assists co-workers in solving problems; supports troubleshooting efforts on an as-needed basis.
  • Communicates issues in a timely manner through the appropriate channels; provides feedback to tooling, maintenance, and other technical departments to facilitate effective assessment and repair of tools/equipment.
  • Engages in processing that includes effective use of hot runner processing, valve-gated tooling, etc.
  • Sets up, programs, operates and maintains all robots and end-of-arm tooling.
  • Partners with Quality department to ensure molded components meet customer quality requirements including dimensional and attribute requirements.
  • Responsible for hands-on troubleshooting and process improvement through scientific injection molding techniques and root-cause elimination in cooperation with partner departments.
  • Safe operation of forklift.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the success of the organization.

  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
  • 1 to 2 years’ set-up experience (preferred)
  • 1 to 3 years’ plastic injection processing experience (preferred)
  • Proficient knowledge and/or experience with thermal plastic or resins utilized in injection molding (required).
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with numerous different sizes and types of molding machines (required)
  • Mechanical background
