Proto Manufacturing, a progressive company specializing in the production of world-class scientific equipment, is seeking a career-oriented Service Technician interested in supporting state-of-the-art scientific analytical equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Travel to customer's site and providing service, commissioning, emergency repair, and field support on analytical X-ray equipment.
- Travel domestically for installation of X-ray systems and accessories for customers. Some potential international travel.
- Train customer’s personnel to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Maintaining first time fix and field response time for customer satisfaction.
- Working with the engineering, support and software teams with emphasis applied to customer support, manufacturing improvement, research and development projects and accessory manufacturing.
- Holding meetings with customers, including scope and exit meetings.
- Providing timely and accurate documentation and reports of all service-related activities.
Requirements:
- A strong theoretical and practical knowledge of the following: digital and analog control systems, PLC control systems, A.C. and D.C. power control, mechatronics and motion control including stepper and servo drives, solenoid, air, and hydraulic actuators, including sensor technologies.
- Exemplary understanding of schematic reading, electronics theory, practical assembly and testing of electronics, troubleshooting and repair down to component level.
A strong ability to use:
- Electronic test equipment such as Oscilloscope and Multi-meter.
- Soldering techniques and experience at circuit board and electronics repair.
- A strong ability to work independently with little supervision and manage high-pressure customer situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to travel up to 90% of the time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular daily basis.
Previous experience in field customer support/service work is an asset. Knowledge of material science, X-ray diffraction and non-destructive testing is an asset. Hands-on experience, ambition and aptitude are essential, as well as excellent communication skills and technical capabilities. Must be a self-starter/self-motivated individual who is able to work in a team environment. Travel capability is required. A valid Driver’s License and Passport are required.
