JOB SUMMARY
The IT Project Director is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of large-scale, complex IT projects and managing the overall project portfolio across multiple regions. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on project management, ensuring that all IT initiatives are aligned with the company’s business objectives and global priorities. The IT Project Director will lead the project portfolio management (PPM) process, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively, and that the portfolio delivers maximum value to the organization. This position requires strong leadership, strategic vision, and a deep understanding of IT projects and portfolio management. The ideal candidate will also possess a strong ability to work effectively across a diverse set of cultures, fostering collaboration and understanding in a global, multicultural environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of global IT projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
- Manage the overall IT project portfolio, including prioritization, coordination of resources from both IT and business subject matter experts, and alignment of projects with business strategies.
- Develop and implement project management and project portfolio management (PPM) strategies, frameworks, and methodologies to support the successful execution of IT initiatives.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders, including executives, business leaders, and technical teams, to gather requirements, define project scope, set objectives, and manage the project portfolio.
- Regularly assess the health of the IT project portfolio to ensure it is aligned with strategic priorities and capable of delivering expected business outcomes.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, risks, and resources, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional project teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Work effectively across a diverse set of cultures, fostering collaboration and building strong relationships with global teams and stakeholders.
- Ensure projects and the overall portfolio adhere to global IT standards, policies, and governance frameworks, including security, compliance, and data protection.
- Train staff from both the business and IT on the project management methodologies and tools.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that could impact project or portfolio delivery, developing contingency plans as needed.
- Lead regular portfolio reviews and adjust priorities, resources, or timelines based on changing business needs and project performance.
- Report on project and portfolio progress, performance metrics, and outcomes to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
- Lead post-implementation reviews and lessons learned sessions to continuously improve project and portfolio management processes and methodologies.
- Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in IT project management and portfolio management, incorporating them into future initiatives.
