The selected candidate will report directly to the Executive Director (ED) and work with the team to act as the community voice of our organization to build lasting, vibrant online communities that are engaged and responsive to our mission of diversifying our economy and reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. Responsibilities:
- Develop & plan digital media content and strategies for campaigns to drive and amplify the organization’s mission;
- Assist all campaigns by creating digital media content using messaging strategies, photography, video, and music;
- Mobilize residents for events, actions, and meetings across the region through digital media outreach, canvassing, phone banking, texting, etc;
- Attend special community events to document community engagement, building further community relations;
- Attend regional meetings and actions to support localized resistance to fossil fuel and petrochemical facilities across the region;
- Advance a collective strategy to resist polluting facilities and advocate for the transition towards clean energy, healthy environments, and thriving economies;
- Actively engage with community members and provide training, support, and information to advocate for their communities and guide the region toward a healthy environment;
- Provide support to other staff and volunteers as needed.
Qualifications:
- Possess a working knowledge of image and video tools to create media assets to support social campaigns;
- Experience in community organizing as staff or volunteer, or willingness to learn
- Self-motivated, independent worker;
- Works well in a fast-paced team environment and respects deadlines;
- Strong communication skills (digital media and writing samples required);
- Ability to work effectively and creatively with diverse people and organizations;
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends and occasionally long hours during events;
- Proficient in Google Workplace, Canva, videography, photo and video editing, online collaboration tools, and willing to develop additional skills;
- Streaming and on-camera communication skills.
