Position Summary
Protea Property Management Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of a diverse portfolio of commercial, retail, and residential real estate entities. This role is responsible for managing the full-cycle accounting process for multiple legal entities, including general ledger maintenance, monthly close, financial reporting, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly close processes including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting
- Maintain accurate general ledger records across multiple entities
- Prepare financial statements for management, investors, and external users
- Review and process invoices; manage accounts payable cycle
- Partner with property managers and support CAM reconciliations
- Assist with loan draw packages and annual budgeting process
- Support tax preparation and audits
- Process payroll for retail operations
- Perform intercompany allocations and reconciliations
- Document procedures and improve/automate accounting processes
- Support special projects as needed
Qualifications & Skills
- Yardi experience required
- Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, formulas, data analysis)
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and multitask
- Strong communication skills
- High level of integrity and reliability
Education & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience required
- Real estate or property management accounting experience preferred
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
Salary : $70,000 - $90,000
