What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underground Mining Drift Mechanic & Drill Specialist position at ProStar Mining LLC?
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Underground Mining Drift Mechanics and Drill Specialists to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy mining equipment, with a strong focus on jumbo drills and long hole drills. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment reliability and minimizing downtime in a demanding underground mining environment.Key Responsibilities:
Note: Roles will be available starting in Mid- August & hiring complete by End of September.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on jumbo drills and bolters (e.g., Sandvik 422, 421, 321, 311) and long hole production drills (e.g., DH & DL 431, 432)
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all haulage and ancillary equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
- Troubleshoot and repair components such as booms, drifters, control systems, hydraulic circuits, and air systems.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders using computerized maintenance systems.
- Follow site safety protocols and participate in safety meetings and audits.
- Collaborate with operations and planning teams to schedule maintenance activities with minimal production disruption.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, both in the field and in the shop.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with underground mining equipment, especially jumbos and long hole drills.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Experience with Sandvik drills, bolters, trucks, loaders.
- Ability to read technical schematics and repair manuals.
- Physically fit and able to work in confined, underground environments.
- Committed to safety and continuous improvement.
- Experience working on split feed jumbos highly desirable.
Schedule & Work Conditions:
- Underground work environment with rotating shifts (likely 20/10).
- 12hr shifts.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
