What are the responsibilities and job description for the Policy Manager position at Prosperity Indiana?
The Policy Manager assists the Senior Director of Policy & Strategy and other Prosperity Indiana leadership in the execution of the organization’s policy & advocacy priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Prosperity Indiana’s three issue-based, statewide advocacy coalitions: Indiana Assets & Opportunity Network, Hoosier Housing Needs Coalition and Hoosiers for Responsible Lending. These coalitions educate and encourage our members and the general public to engage in policy issues.
- Advance Prosperity Indiana’s mission and policy priorities by recruiting coalition participants and steering committee leadership, scheduling & facilitating meetings, building diverse and inclusive partnerships, and inviting participants to become members of Prosperity Indiana
- Manage delivery of advocacy-related activities including the annual Statehouse Day, Policy & Pizza series, and assist with coordination of Capitol Hill Day events
- Plan, coordinate, and lead in-person and virtual policy education events and webinars highlighting emerging policy issues
- Assist with policy content creation including reports, blog posts, and policy analysis
- Support advocacy capacity building for members and partners
- Assist with identifying, applying for, and managing grants to fund policy programming
- Monitor & track legislation
- Engage with state, federal and administrative policymakers year-round
Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to working in a mission-driven community development organization
- Highest level of integrity and confidentiality
- Familiarity with a variety of research methods
- Experience in public speaking
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project management skills
- Comfortable working with racially and economically diverse populations and underrepresented communities
- Centrally located in Indiana and willing to do seasonal statewide and national travel
- Bachelor's degree is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Grant writing and reporting experience
- Knowledge of the human services and/or community economic development sector
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector
- Graduate degree in political science, public affairs, law, government, social work or related field
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Ability to work at a computer for several hours each day. Hybrid work schedule, but attendance at in-person staff and community events, meetings, and legislative sessions will be required.
Salary:
$45,000-$55,000; paid health insurance, dental and vision, life insurance, PTO and holidays
