Position Summary: 

The Breakfast Dishwasher plays a key role in ensuring a delightful start to the guests' day by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hospitality. Their primary responsibility is to efficiently clean all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment used during breakfast service. However, their duties extend beyond just washing dishes. They are essential in maintaining the overall cleanliness of the kitchen and breakfast area. A successful Dishwasher not only excels in these tasks but also brings a positive attitude, excellent teamwork skills, and a commitment to exceptional service, enhancing the overall guest experience.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned): 

  • Ensure all kitchen utensils, dishes, and equipment are properly cleaned and stored
  • Carefully wash by hand, and safely and skillfully operate the washing equipment, to thoroughly clean all service ware, cookware and utensils, including polishing stainless and silver ware
  • Help maintain safety in the kitchen and breakfast area by clearing spills promptly, keeping all equipment, oven vents, all floor, wall, and cook surfaces, thoroughly clean
  • Occasionally assist with cleaning and disinfecting tables, chairs, countertops, and food service equipment to maintain hygiene standards
  • Occasionally assist in organizing and storing breakfast supplies and equipment
  • Occasionally help cooks with food preparation tasks and ensure that the breakfast buffet is attractively presented and fully stocked
  • Empty wastebaskets and dispose of trash from the breakfast area and kitchen area
  • Adhere to all safety and security procedures to provide a safe environment for guests and colleagues
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve department goals and deliver outstanding service during breakfast hours
  • Uphold Hotel standards and procedures to exceed guest expectations, including managing guest flow and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere
  • Report any maintenance issues or damages in the breakfast area to the appropriate department for timely resolution
  • Follow environmentally friendly practices and procedures to support sustainability efforts
  • Collaborate effectively with cooks and breakfast attendants to ensure a seamless breakfast service
  • May be requested to assist with banquet events on occasion

  • Attends hotel and department meetings and other functions required by management
  • Communicates all pertinent information to Food and Beverage Supervisor and or Assistant General Manager
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays
  • Arrives to work on time, ready to clock in, in a clean/pressed uniform and non-slip shoes
  • Must maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Wears name tag at all times when at work
  • Must be attentive, courteous and efficient at all times when dealing with the guests and co-workers
  • Comply at all times with compliance standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Establish and maintain good communications and teamwork with fellow employees and other departments within the hotel in such a manner that promotes harmony and goodwill throughout the workplace
  • Be familiar with all policies and hotel rules, and hotel terminology
  • Must be capable of self-supervision and have the ability to manage time accordingly in order to complete the required work
Qualifications:

Qualifications Requirements:  

  • A minimum of 1 year of progressive experience in hotel food service
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Proficiency in multitasking is essential
  • Ability to meet the needs of others in a dynamic and fast-paced setting
  • Possess a friendly demeanor and the ability to address guest requests and concerns promptly and courteously
  • Proficiency in using cleaning equipment and supplies, including mops, and disinfectants, to sanitize the breakfast area and dining surfaces
  • Understanding of hotel safety and sanitation protocols to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for guests and staff
  • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Knowledge of safety protocols to handle chemicals 
  • Ability to keep track of room supplies, restock as necessary, and maintain an organized work area

Reasoning Ability:   

Breakfast Dishwashers need strong reasoning skills. They should be able to think clearly about situations, make good decisions, and prioritize tasks effectively to ensure the breakfast area is welcoming and well-stocked. These attendants must also be adaptable to changes, such as accommodating special guest requests or addressing unexpected issues during their shift.

As a Dishwasher, you will primarily work indoors, ensuring that dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned and organized to meet the highest standards. You will collaborate with cooks and other team members, assisting them as necessary, and be a supportive team player to ensure a seamless guest experience.
