Primary Purpose:
The Career and Technical Education Coordinator assists the Director in implementing the district’s CTE Plan. The CTE coordinator facilitates curriculum and program development in order to meet the needs of students, ensure the integrity of the program and vision of the district, and ensure consistency of programming across the district. Collaborate with administrators, instructional staff, and community members to develop CTE pathways and courses that are rigorous and relevant. Assist with compiling, analyzing, and reporting data on an annual basis to key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Master's degree in a relevant field
Valid Mid-management certificate or Standard Principal Certificate (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong understanding of Understanding by Design curriculum framework and Balanced Assessment practices
- Ability to work within and provide support to Professional Learning Communities
- Experience applying adult learning theory and effective professional learning practices
- Experience with data analysis and using data to inform programmatic decisions
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Skilled in interpreting state laws, local policy, procedures, and data
- Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
- Minimal 3 years of classroom experience in a career and technical education setting ( 5 years preferred)
- Successful district or campus CTE leadership experience in one of the following areas (preferred): Health Science, Engineering, or Information Technology
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
1. Assist the Director of Career and Technical Education in implementing the processes and procedures to meet students’ needs districtwide, including reviewing student data and testing of students.
2. Facilitate the development of a guaranteed and viable curriculum based upon content, context, resources and vertical alignment to develop a curriculum and assessment plan that meets state standards across all courses offered within the program(s) of study.
3. Assist the Director of Career and Technical Education in coordinating the planning of periodic needs assessments related to course selection offering for CTE programs.
4. Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers to pilot such efforts when appropriate.
5. Assist the Director of Career and Technical Education in planning and providing staff development training options and improvement plans by using the mission of the district, program evaluation outcomes, and input from staff to ensure best practices focusing on district and state goals.
6. Work in collaboration with and build capacity of district leaders, campus administrators, and teachers to implement a high-quality CTE program.
7. Develop and implement parent programs focusing on building awareness of careers, certifications, pathways, and post-secondary training.
Career and Technical Education
8. Collaborate with campus administration to implement district initiatives related to career and technical education including Industry Based Certification planning, implementation, and reporting
9. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to interpret data and supervise the accuracy of reports for the department.
10. Coordinate and plan for new and/or revised CTE programs and facilities.
11. Increase the quality and effectiveness of CTE instruction through collaborating, co-planning, fostering trusting relationships with staff, and supporting the learning process.
12. Coordinate with personnel and special programs to ensure a seamless system of program delivery.
13. Collaborate with campus administration to implement district initiatives related to career and technical education.
14. Coordinate with campus staff on the selection of appropriate instructional resources and equipment for CTE programs.
15. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible and be a role model for all district staff and students. 16. Develop evaluation instruments to guide program improvement and to monitor student progress.
Budget and Inventory
17. Participate in development, preparation, and administration of budget for supplies and equipment and ensure that the program is cost-effective and that funds are managed wisely.
18. Assist with the selection and purchase of supplemental equipment and supplies for the program.
19. Maintain a current inventory of supplies and equipment and recommend disposal and replacement of equipment as necessary.

20. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned and take initiative to develop professional skills appropriate to job assignments.
21. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
22. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy.
23. Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor.
24. Follow District safety protocols and procedures.
