The Prospector is a 501(c)(3) non-profit providing competitive and inclusive employment
for people with disabilities through the operation of a first-run movie theater and online
popcorn business.
Position: Events Coordinator
As an Events Coordinator at The Prospector, you will be the first smile that greets guests as they arrive for their event. You will assist the Events Manager in delivering a one-of-a-kind experience for meetings, private parties, corporate events, etc. From marketing to booking, setup to cleanup, the Events Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring that both customer service and event coordination are exemplary. Through this operation, we will enable a wide audience of moviegoers to create meaningful relationships with, and business opportunities for, people with disabilities in their communities, demonstrating that people with disabilities are valuable and employable contributors to society.
Responsibilities:
-Work with the Events Manager to ensure all meetings and events are well- planned and efficiently executed
-Set up and take down for meetings, events, etc. as directed
-Provide an experience that is comfortable and distraction-free o Assist with other functions as instructed by the Events Manager
Administrative:
-Aid in the recruitment process to bring in new clients
-Answer questions from guests and resolve any concerns
-Answer emails/phone calls regarding event planning
Marketing:
-Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic materials for private events
-Lead the generation of content that engages audience segments and leads
to measurable action. Decide who, where, and when to disseminate
competitive and inclusive employment for people with disabilities through the
operation of a first-run movie theater and online popcorn business
-Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential customers, corporate/foundation sponsors, and individual donors
Supervision/Coaching:
-Oversee the events staff during service to ensure that all guests are happy and performance standards are being obtained
-Work with individual members of the team to coach them towards constant improvement and growth in their job performance and interpersonal experiences
-Ensure that The Prospector is providing excellent customer service in all aspects of its operation
Qualifications:
-Demonstrated team player – has shown the ability to lead, support, and coachother
-Outstanding communication skills demonstrated in multiple settings/situations –especially in demanding/stressful situations
-Physical stamina – able to stand/sit for full 8-hour shifts
-High energy, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail.
-Desire and ability to work hard, both individually and as a team, to be creative, attention to detail yet empathetic, and ready to learn and grow
-Commitment to the mission of The Prospector
-Strong computer and administration skills
-Experience in events/restaurants is a plus
-Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes a majority of nights and weekends
Compensation:
-Competitive wage commensurate with experience
-Wage Range: $20 - $24 per hour
