The Role
The Director of Talent will lead Prospect Schools’ strategy and execution for Talent Acquisition across our network of schools and central teams. Reporting to the Chief People & Equity Officer (CPEO), you will oversee all systems, structures, and partnerships that drive inclusive, timely, and effective recruitment and hiring, ensuring we attract and retain the exceptional people our students deserve.
The Director will manage and develop members of the Talent Team, build strong partnerships with hiring managers, and own the full-cycle talent strategy from long-term forecasting and pipeline development to hiring process design and candidate experience. They will also play a key role in aligning Prospect’s internal hiring operations, ensuring data systems and ATS are optimized for decision-making and compliance.
This is a critical strategic and high-visibility role directly aligned to our vision for building the right community for Prospect Schools to thrive and grow. Key Responsibilities
Talent Strategy & Systems Leadership
- Design and lead a cohesive, network-wide talent acquisition strategy that aligns with Prospect’s values, DEI commitments, and staffing needs
- Partner with school and network leaders to forecast hiring needs, analyze staffing trends, and build out hiring timelines and workforce plans
- Own the full lifecycle of the hiring process (from sourcing through offer) ensuring consistent, equitable, and high-quality candidate experiences across roles and departments
- Lead the management and continuous improvement of Prospect’s Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensuring data integrity, functionality, and ease of use for all stakeholders
- Collaborate with HR Operations to ensure timely and accurate onboarding transitions and personnel data entry
- Directly manage and develop a team of Recruitment Specialists; set clear roles, expectations, and workflows that align to the hiring arc of the year
- Lead the internal management of key talent processes, including Intent to Return (ITR) and Ask Back (offer renewal) cycles, in close partnership with school and network leaders
- Partner with HR Operations and Finance to ensure aligned headcount tracking, accurate budget forecasting, and timely role approvals
- Ensure clarity, documentation, and follow-through on talent-related responsibilities across stakeholders, including school leaders, hiring managers, and support teams
- Design and oversee systems to ensure a consistent and inclusive candidate experience from first touch through hire
- Build and manage structures for competency-based interviews, structured selection processes, and inclusive decision-making tools
- Audit and evolve hiring practices to ensure they are equitable, data-informed, and bias-reducing
- Champion Prospect’s employee value proposition and ensure our recruitment materials reflect our organizational mission and values
- Educate and partner with hiring managers to ensure understanding and alignment with Prospect’s talent acquisition philosophy, processes, and best practices
- Analyze recruitment and retention data by portfolio, role type, and demographics to inform leadership conversations and future planning
- Develop and maintain talent dashboards and hiring reports to monitor progress, flag risks, and inform ongoing strategy
- Build strategic partnerships with colleges, graduate programs, professional networks, and mission-aligned organizations to deepen Prospect’s recruitment pipelines
- Lead the development and implementation of external-facing recruitment campaigns, job board strategy, info sessions, and other talent marketing efforts
- Provide effective leadership and management to ensure Recruitment Specialists are supported, held accountable, and equipped to deliver on hiring goals
- Collaborate closely with the CPEO, fellow People & Equity Directors, and cross-functional leaders to advance shared priorities and deliver results on network-wide initiatives
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned in support of Prospect’s mission and strategic goals

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or HR/talent certification a plus
- 5 years of progressive experience in recruitment or talent acquisition, preferably in a mission-driven or education-focused organization
- 2 years of team leadership experience, including performance management and coaching
- Demonstrated experience designing and executing inclusive, full-cycle hiring processes, with clear results in candidate experience, time-to-fill, and quality of hire
- Experience owning or administering an Applicant Tracking System (ATS); comfort managing workflows, data, and system improvements
- Strong project management and organizational skills; proven ability to manage multiple hiring cycles and shifting priorities across the year
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience building external partnerships with schools, colleges, or professional organizations is strongly preferred
- Experience working in education, K–12, or a multi-site environment is a plus
- Ability to manage complex workflows, analyze recruitment data trends, and make strategic recommendations to senior leadership
