Entry Level Manual Machinist

Prospect Mold and Die is looking to add a Small Manual Machinist to our talented workforce.  The Small Manual Machinist is is responsible for operating the identified machine(s) with maximum efficiency. This will entail reviewing the machine schedule, programming for work scheduled and ensuring the proper tooling / proper material / proper set up items are available, when required, and are used with maximum efficiency. Work is coordinated through the applicable supervisor and communicated through the machine line up. Will work to ensure proper tooling / proper material / proper set up items are available, when required, and are used with maximum efficiency (may entail teamwork). The machine operator / programmer must be conscientious and persistent about working to meet or beat department utilization and throughput goals. 

DUTIES:

• Operate machines in a manner to produce the optimum amount of work possible from each machine.
• Utilize all resources available to produce the best quality part in the shortest amount of time.
• Look ahead for scheduling purposes and inform the supervisor of estimated completion time and possible conflicts for future operations.
• Follow the company’s lead for lean manufacturing when ever possible by multitasking as much as possible.
• Retrieve data from PDC and NC Models per Prospect standards.
• Create work zones and program as needed for your machine and other machines if needed.
• Continue to investigate new programming techniques as new versions of software are released.
• Use the Prospect tool library to choose tools for programming.
• Keep work area and machine clean and clutter free.
• Other duties as assigned

CLIMATE:

Work is done in conjunction with all functional departments. Must be conscientious about accuracy and communication of details. Work is often subject to time, and deadline pressures. Significant time is spent working in team meetings. Work is coordinated through the applicable supervisor and communicated through the machine line up.  Will work to ensure proper tooling / proper material / proper set up items are available, when required, and are used with maximum efficiency (may entail teamwork).  The machine operator / programmer must be conscientious and persistent about working to meet or beat department utilization and throughput goals.  

PREFERABLE CHARACTERISTICS: 

1. Enjoys working in a team environment, possesses strong interpersonal skills enjoys learning and applying new technology.
2. Personality traits to include: goal oriented, persistence, motivated, positive attitude.
3. 1-3 Years as a Small Manual Machinist
