Paralegal
The DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office (DKDA) is currently accepting resumes for a Paralegal in our Special Victims Unit. This position will be specifically assigned to support our Crimes Against Elder Persons and Disabled Adults (CAEPAD) and Human Trafficking and Internet Crimes (HTIC) Units. The CAEPAD Unit is responsible for investigating and trying crimes against elder adults and adults with disabilities. Our HTIC Unit is responsible for investigating and trying crimes involving human and labor trafficking, as well as sexually based internet crimes in the DeKalb County Judicial Circuit. These units are made up of attorneys, investigators, victim advocates, and a paralegal who work together as specialized teams to address crimes involving particularly vulnerable victims.
Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or a related legal field; three years of experience working in a legal office preferably in Georgia; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Key competencies: The ideal candidate should be comfortable with technology; must be able to multitask and work under occasionally stressful time constraints. A successful candidate must be detail-oriented; strong organizational and interpersonal skills are a must; and must be able to work well in a team environment while also having the ability to work independently. A successful candidate has a strong working knowledge of Excel, the Microsoft Suite of programs, Odyssey, CLEAR, Lexis, and other similar tools used to complete the requirements of this position.

- Conducting research, requesting documentation, analyzing records and recordings, organizing voluminous files, and tracking cases
- Creating spreadsheets and Power Point presentations
- Assisting with and attending community presentations
- Running Odyssey and Power-Bi reports
- Communicating with defense counsels and judicial staff
- Preparing and serving discovery
- Facilitating the CAEPAD Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT)
- Reviewing new cases and updating databases to ensure case accuracy
- Monitoring and calendaring all court dates and other obligations
- Providing litigation support
