Human Resources Generalist (Bilingual English/Spanish)

Sonoma County, CA  |  Full-Time  |  On-Site  |  $80,000 – $90,000

About Us

Our client is a well-regarded, growing manufacturing company in Sonoma County with a strong reputation for product quality. The organization supports a sizable hourly production and warehouse team and takes pride in a collaborative, people-first culture.

Position Overview

This is a hands-on generalist opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys being on the floor as much as behind the desk. Reporting to the senior HR leader, you will own day-to-day people operations, act as the go-to resource for employees and supervisors, and help shape a workplace where a diverse, largely hourly workforce feels supported. Fluency in both English and Spanish is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Day-to-Day HR

  • Act as the first point of contact for staff and managers on policy questions, benefits, leaves, and workplace concerns
  • Take employee relations matters from initial complaint through investigation, documentation, corrective action, and closure
  • Coach supervisors on attendance, performance, discipline, and team development; elevate sensitive issues to HR leadership
  • Oversee the full employee lifecycle — onboarding, transfers, promotions, status changes, and separations
  • Keep HRIS data and personnel files accurate and confidential; partner with payroll to resolve employee data questions
  • Administer leaves and accommodations, including CFRA, FMLA, PDL, ADA, and workers’ compensation

Compliance

  • Keep the company aligned with federal and California employment law, including wage and hour, meal and rest periods, and I-9 requirements
  • Conduct or support investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and policy violations
  • Help roll out handbook updates and new policies, and schedule mandatory harassment prevention and safety training

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Work with hiring managers to fill production, operations, and office roles — from posting and screening through background checks and offers
  • Deliver new hire orientation and create an onboarding experience that drives early retention
  • Contribute to workforce planning and retention strategies

Engagement, Safety & Reporting

  • Be a visible, approachable HR presence across the office, warehouse, and production areas
  • Support performance reviews, goal setting, training programs, and change communications
  • Partner with Safety, Quality, and Operations on safety initiatives, workers’ comp claims, and return-to-work programs
  • Track and report on turnover, absenteeism, recruiting, and employee relations trends, and recommend improvements

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of progressive HR experience spanning employee relations, compliance, recruiting, and HR operations
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and spoken (required)
  • Solid working knowledge of California employment law, leave administration, and workers’ compensation
  • Hands-on experience conducting workplace investigations with discretion and sound judgment
  • Background supporting hourly employees in manufacturing, food production, agriculture, distribution, or a similar setting
  • Experience with HRIS and benefits platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, Paylocity, Paycom, UKG, or comparable systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills; able to juggle competing priorities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary of $80,000 - 90,000, based on experience and qualifications
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with a generous company match
  • Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays

Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
