Position Summary

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and repair commercial HVAC systems including rooftop units (RTUs), chillers, boilers, air handlers (AHUs), and related equipment
- Install HVAC systems, components, and ductwork in accordance with project drawings, manufacturer specifications, and applicable building codes
- Configure, test, and troubleshoot building automation systems (Client) and digital controls
- Identify and resolve issues related to refrigeration, electrical systems, airflow, and mechanical performance
- Perform preventive maintenance including inspections, filter changes, belt adjustments, coil cleaning, and system performance checks
- Maintain accurate service records, including materials used and refrigerant handling in compliance with EPA standards
- Follow OSHA safety protocols, including proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe operation of ladders and lifts
- Provide leadership and guidance to service personnel in the field as needed
- Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and office staff while representing JW Mechanicals
- Monday – Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Overtime available as needed
- On-call: As needed only (rare) due to commercial-heavy workload and built-in system redundancies
- Work is performed within a defined local service area; travel is limited
- Per diem available if travel outside coverage area is required (infrequent)
- Company vehicle provided
- All tools supplied
- JW Mechanicals will support and pay for certifications for the right candidate
- Strong operational support with autonomy in the field
- 3–5 years of commercial HVAC experience (service and/or installation)
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (required)
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Refrigeration systems
- Electrical systems and schematics
- HVAC controls and Client platforms
- Hydronic systems
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, climb ladders, and operate in varied environments
- NATE Certification
- Experience with VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) systems
- Exposure to plumbing, pipefitting, or related trades
- Prior experience mentoring or leading technicians
- $38 – $48/hour based on experience
